» GOD IS IN CONTROL
How secure and peaceful is to know that God guides our steps. What a consolation is to feel cared by the One who has the dominion of all things. Nothing gets off His control. Despite the increasing chaos of this world, the apostle Paul assures us that for those who love God, every circumstance work for good.
I have been thinking about the visible difference between those who love God and those who don’t love Him. We go through the same things, for the Bible says that all things happen to everyone under the sun. That means that like the righteous will have good things in his life, so will the wicked, as well as bad things will come for both. And it is here that I would like to point out the difference.
I remember the movie Forrest Gump, which the main character always said in a joking way: “Life is like a box of chocolates, you never know what you gonna get”. I wonder how the wicked must feel when he is hit by the tribulations of life: sickness, loss of job, existential crisis etc, and he doesn’t have the conviction, like the righteous does, that things are happening for his good. How many people we see who don’t put their trust in the Lord and suffer repeatedly, for they are under the influence of the enemy who came only “to steal, and to kill, and to destroy”.
However there is a people very well called by Demos Shakarian, founder of Full Gospel Business Men's Fellowship International (FGBMFI), in his book “The Happiest People on Earth”. This people zealous for good works goes through tribulations, for our Lord said we would go through them. But, the great difference of this people who loves and fears God is that we can be certain that He is in control of everything. Got ill, God is in control. Lost the job, God is in control. The blessing is taking too long, God is in control. I am in the desert, God is in control. If the Scripture reminds us in Matthew 6.30 that God controls even the grass over the field, won’t He have control of our circumstances when we are of much more value than it? Matthew 6.25
There is a purpose in all things for those who follow Jesus. The struggles are intense, the losses are painful, crisis go through us, but we know that in all this God is fulfilling His great plan in our lives and perfecting us for His glory. Be sure that God has not forgotten you. Don’t think He has forsaken you because of the situations you are going by. He is refining you, like gold is refined to shine even more, and in His time, you will see it. Rest on the arms of the Father who loves you and is sovereign over all.
